The Shrewsbury Volunteers had a busy Thursday afternoon and evening.
At 3:18 PM, Engine 61 transferred to Red Lion, Station 34, to handle any calls. They were assisting on a structure fire in Lower Windsor Township.
Not long after returning home, at 6:11 PM, Station 61 was alerted to assist The Loganville Fire Department with an industrial accident at Adhesive Research in Springfield Township. Rescue 61 responded as part of the York County Advanced Technical Rescue Team. The Rescue 61 crew arrived and worked with crews on scene to free an employee who his hand trapped in a machine.
Then at 7:58 PM, The Shrewsbury Volunteers were alerted to a vehicle accident on I-83 North Bound at MM 4. It was reported that a tractor trailer struck a disabled car on the shoulder and then flipped over the bank. Rescue 61 arrived on scene to find an overturned tractor trailer and the driver was out of the vehicle with minor injuries. The occupants of the disabled vehicle were not in the car when it was struck. Maryland Line Fire / EMS, along with Jacobus EMS assisted with patient care and operations.
While responding to the tractor trailer accident, Engine 61-1 was diverted to assist Glen Rock Fire Department with a working chimney fire in Shrewsbury Township. Upon returning from the fire, Engine 61-1 went to the accident scene to provide lighting until they eventually returned to station at 1:30 AM.
