At 6:18pm Shrewsbury Volunteers along with units from Loganville FD, Glen Rock EMS and paramedics from Jacobus EMS were dispatched to Interstate 83 SB in the area of mile marker 3 for a reported accident with a vehicle rollover. Rescue 61 and Engine 61-1 responded and on arrival found a minivan on its side with one person trapped and injured.
FD personnel stabilized the vehicle and made entry. Information was passed on to EMS providers on arrival regarding the patient’s status. FD personnel from Shrewsbury and Loganville worked on a roof removal as well as entering from the rear by cutting away wreckage and removing debris. Providers made contact with the patient, placed him on a backboard and removed him. EMS providers placed him in the ambulance. After a thorough assessment the patient was transported to York Hospital.
Fire Police from Shrewsbury, Loganville and Eureka Fire Co. controlled traffic during the incident. Pa State Police handled the investigation.
