At 1:39pm Shrewsbury Volunteers were dispatched to assist the Eureka Volunteer Fire Company with a reported vehicle accident with entrapment on Bridgeview Road. Rescue 61 responded with a crew of 4. Enroute Chief 54-1 (Russell) arrived, established Command 54 and advised there were two people trapped in two different vehicles. Rescue 61 arrived and was directed by Command 54 to one of the vehicles. Inside a female patient was trapped. Personnel from Shrewsbury Volunteers began extricating the patient who was pinned in the driver side of the car. Rescue 54 arrived and was directed to the second vehicle where a male patient was trapped. Both departments quickly extricated their patients and prepared them for rapid transport to York Hospital Trauma Center. Multiple EMS units arrived, transferred care from the firefighters, and transported the unconscious, critically injured patients. Bridgeview Road was closed for several hours while the Pennsylvania State Police Crash Investigation Team did required work to reconstruct what happened. As of 5:00pm Bridgeview Road was still closed and traffic was being redirected by fire police members from several departments.
