At 12:18 Shrewsbury Volunteers were dispatched to assist Loganville FD with an accident on Interstate 83 NB at Exit 8. It is reported to be a truck overturned. Immediately after dispatch the call was upgraded to an accident with entrapment. Chief 63 called enroute to the call and was advised one person was trapped inside an overturned triple axle dump truck. The Chief was also advised Rescue 19, Goodwill Fire Co., was close by at a public safety detail. He advised them to respond. Rescue 61 responded and on arrival found Engine 63 ( Loganville), Rescue 19 and EMS on scene. Shrewsbury Volunteers personnel met up with Rescue 19 personnel and together worked on removing the trapped driver. After the wreckage was moved away from the patient she was removed and Glen Rock EMS, Medic 102-6 and Life Lion personnel took over patient care. The patient was taken to York Hospital via Life Lion helicopter. The injured patient is to be guided about getting money to cover injury expenses. If the injuries require advanced treatment, compensation can help with the expenses.
Interstate 83 NB was shut down for almost an hour due to the sand spilled across the interstate from the truck. Once the lanes were cleared of debris NB traffic was allowed to move again.
PSP and towing agencies took control of the incident and all fire, rescue and EMS units cleared.
