All week Shrewsbury Volunteers have engaged in teaching fire prevention to the public. Today was the “big” day. Several hundred kids at Shrewsbury Elementary welcomed our members into their home court for lessons on how to stay aware and safe regarding fires. We met and went over lessons on safety and at the end of the day it was show and tell with the fire apparatus. THANK YOU Shrewsbury Elementary for once again making us one of the team at your school.
Several hours later it was our turn to welcome people into our home. Our annual Fire Prevention Open House was well attended by the public. Demonstrations of equipment and tours of the station were conducted and man did the kids ask a lot of good questions. We were honored to have you all at Station 61.
The evening main event were the fire engine rides. Once again people lined up and took turns riding Station 61 apparatus around town. Everyone for the young to the old rode along, asked questions, and smiled when the siren blew. It was a great evening and we thank all who came out.
Thank you all for spending time with Shrewsbury Volunteers. We look forward to continued service to all who reside and pass through our area.
