Today dedicated members of Shrewsbury Volunteers rode fire apparatus to the Shrewsbury Elementary School. No, there wasn’t a fire but there were hundreds of kids who wanted to be firefighters!
Shrewsbury Volunteers in cooperation with the Shrewsbury Elementary School staff provides fire safety lessons and hands on interaction with the students. Both firefighters and the kids have a great time. A highlight for the firefighters is having lunch with the students and answering all kinds of questions. A special thanks goes out to the Southern School District for allowing our yearly visit at the Shrewsbury Elementary.
During Fire Prevention Day Shrewsbury Volunteers had to handle multiple incidents in the region. Station 61 handled 7 calls for service. From working with kids to working hydraulic rescue tools Shrewsbury Volunteers had a busy day.
Please be safe not just during fire prevention week but every day. Know how to keep your home and family safe. Residents can reach out to our department at any time if they have questions or concerns about fire safety. We are glad to help.
