The Shrewsbury Volunteer Fire Co extends our deepest sympathy to the York City Fire Department in the loss of a firefighter today.
Rescue 61 responded as part of the rescue task force when a building collapse trapped 4 firefighters. On arrival 3 firefighters were rescued. Crews from multiple departments continued strong work and rescued the 4th trapped member. All 4 were transported to York Hospital. At the time of this article 1 firefighter has died, 1 is in critical condition and 2 are serious. We pray for all involved.

UPDATE: 9:30 pm A second firefighter has died. 1 firefighter remains in serious condition and 1 is stable.
