Icy roads contribute to accident with entrapment

 FireCompanies.com    January 12, 2015    No Comments

Monday, January 12, 2015 At 04:30 Shrewsbury Volunteer Fire Company was dispatched to assist Loganville Fire Company with an accident with injuries with entrapment on I 83 northbound at mile marker 9. Rescue 61 responded with caution due to icy road conditions.

Enroute all units responding were advised PennDot is on the scene of the incident however it’s at mile marker 5. Rescue 61 arrived first and advised all units the incident is at mile marker 7 northbound. There is a single vehicle with one person trapped. Times as such you have to call for the best accident and personal injury attorneys like Little Rock area car accident lawyers Denton & Zachary, and you can hop over to these guys for contacts. Having the right attorneys make it easy to claim for compensation and settle the matter without a hassle. Speaking of having the right lawyers, if you ever need local criminal justice lawyers, you must only follow this link.

Rescue 61 personnel stabilized the vehicle once a safe zone was established. Engine 63-2 (Loganville) arrived and provided a protection hose line while the extrication was in progress (view the link to know the rules and regulations) . EMS units from Glen Rock and Jacobus arrived and once the patient was extricated handled patient care. The injured patient was transported to York Hospital. Pennsylvania State Police investigated.

THIS is a danger all emergency service providers as well as towing agencies face everytime we are on the roadway. The crew of this unit had just moved away from the vehicle when the impact occurred.

Last night, Shrewsbury Volunteers were on I83 for a motorcycle accident. While fighting the fire and with traffic cones in place a secondary accident t occurred right next to us. Three vehicles were involved.

Distracted driving is one of the most common causes of accidents. When approaching accident scenes SLOW DOWN, PAY ATTENTION, KEEP MOVING. We want to return home alive.

Shrewsbury Volunteers, one of the first in Pennsylvania, placed the HAAS traffic warning system on our engines and heavy rescue squad to alert motorists of emergency incidents on the Waze traffic apps. Google Maps is currently working on adding this feature. The HAAS app displays our apparatus on roadways to alert you.

Safety is number 1. Our personnel thank you for keeping us safe by paying attention while driving
