The winter season has begun. Shrewsbury Volunteers has run 3 incidents already and multiple incidents are occurring all over the region. Vehicle accidents are occurring in almost every jurisdiction in the county. The first snowfall of the year is taking it’s toll.
If you do not have to travel for the next 5 hours stay at home. The snow is a heavy wet snow and packs under your tires when you try to stop. With the snow piling under your tires you lose steering and braking capabilities. You should be traveling at slow speeds if you have to travel. Keep a safe distance from vehicles around you.
Weather reports state the snow will be heavy until approximately 1pm then begin to change to sleet and rain. This will cause pooling of water in low drainage areas. Keep alert after the snow stops as roadways will be hazardous for the remainder of the day.
Keep posted to local weather and we will update you if any major changes occur.
