The following notice was recieved regarding the north side on and off ramps of Exit 4. Progress continues on the Exit 4 Project and the end results will be a huge benefit for the region. We will pass on more information as it’s received.
————————————————————————-
The SR83 Exit 4 Interchange Project is approaching a major traffic switch in the coming week. We have already opened new ramps at the bottom of the northbound on and southbound off ramps. Next Monday, Tuesday and possibly Wednesday evening we anticipate shifting traffic to the new ramps at the upper ends in the 83 merge areas. This switch allows for longer on and off ramps to become active and should relieve some of the stacking issues on SR83 north of the interchange. We have completed the new bridge abutment south of 851 and have moved to the center pier. This pier will progress in the coming weeks. Once traffic has been shifted next week we will begin excavation for the box culvert carrying Deer Creek in the area of the old ramps. The box has already been installed in the area of the new ramps. Eventually in 2021 this box will join together in the center of SR83. Once the next phase of box culvert is constructed work will start on the north abutment for the SR83 bridge. We anticipate working through the winter as long as weather permits. With work now being inside the ramps our access becomes more difficult. We ask that everyone be patient as the work there way thru the construction zone. Be mindful of trucks and equipment entering the roadways. BE VERY AWARE OF WORKERS IN THE AREA. Kinsley Construction Inc. and PennDOT are committed to providing a safe work zone for both the traveling public and our work force.
