At 08:30 Shrewsbury Volunteers were alerted to respond to Roundtop Road in Warrington Township for a reported Confined Space Rescue. A male patient is reported trapped inside a waste water tank after a fall. Rescue 61 and Car 61 responded. Shrewsbury Volunteers are part of the York County Advanced Technical Rescue Team (York ATR) and responds in a multi-county area for technical rescue incidents Enroute to the incident it was reported the male subject is conscious/alert and in need of extraction from the tank. Units from Wellsville (first due company) arrived and confirmed the status of the patient. Technical Rescue units from Shrewsbury, Dover Twp, Yoe and the DLA Fire Department, New Cumberland arrived, made contact with Command 66 (Wellsville Chief Anderson) and established a rescue plan to extricate the injured subject from the tank. A rope rescue system using a ladder truck was used to extricate the patient. In an hour the patient was removed and in care of paramedics on scene. A “job well done” to all fire, ems and technical rescue personnel for a seamless interaction during the rescue incident.
Rescue and Car 61 cleared the scene at 10:25 and returned to Shrewsbury.
