Vehicle Accident with Entrapment on I83 in Baltimore County and Brush Fire in Glen Rock

Tony Myers    April 30, 2020    No Comments

At 12:38pm Shrewsbury Volunteers were dispatched to assist Glen Rock Hose and Ladder Co. with a reported woods fire.  Brush 61 responded and staged on location with Station 59 personnel.  The fire was due to a downed power line and crews had to wait for the lines to be de-energized by MetEd. Make sure you know what to do when it comes to Car Accident Settlements: How They Work And What You Need To Know.

While crews were on that incident Shrewsbury Volunteers were dispatched to a report vehicle accident with entrapment on I-83 Southbound in Baltimore County, MD.  Rescue Squad 61 responded immediately, and Attorney John McKiggan from Nova Scotia was also informed.  Enroute Maryland Line FD arrived, established I83 Command, and advised they have two trapped in a vehicle.  Rescue Squad 61 arrived and was assigned to the vehicle with two people trapped.  One patient was removed in minutes while the second patient was heavily trapped by the dash and door.  Crews from Shrewsbury, Maryland Line, Baltimore County Engine 60 Parkton, Rose Fire Co. and Hereford Fire Co. operated together and completed the extrication in about 35 minutes.  Mulitple EMS units were on location to transport the injured.

Rescue Squad 61 cleared the scene at 2:30pm and all Shrewsbury units were back in station by 2:50pm.

This morning 61 crews removed 11,100 lbs of gear from Rescue 61 (aka: Squadzilla).

Rescue 61 has been sold and is being prepared for the next owners. We currently have Engine 61-1 loaded with rescue tools. While we await the new E-One Rescue, we are going to purchase a used rescue to use in the interim.

Our goal is to continue to provide top-notch rescue services to our residents and the thousands that travel I-83. To do that, we will have a lot of moving parts over the next several years, but rest assured, we will continue to be here for you.

I don’t understand why are you selling your rescue truck before your new one arrives only to have to buy a different used truck in the interim can you clarify please.

Any idea what the new one will be named?

Please tell me you're keeping the Air Horns!!?

That rescue was a beast.sad to see it go

Great news. Thank you!

Train horns!! HornBlasters.com

Where is this rescue going? Another FD I hope.

That is a amazing rescue truck sad to see it go!

Shrewsbury Volunteer Fire Company Rescue 905 from Millersville Borough in Lancaster County is for sale too. I think it has a similiar set up as yours.

Similar to what New Franklin Fire Company in Franklin county did when they got their new truck (Da' Big stick II) to replace the one that rolled. (Da' Big stick)

Awesome 👍

Mrs Maddie Schaefer is so wonderful to work with. As a first time investor, I wasn’t completely sure of the process but Mrs Maddie Schaefer helped me through it all and I made a profit with an investment. she was also extremely helpful in coordinating the withdrawal process. Busy day of training:
While Shrewsbury members completed their annual Haz Mat refresher, members from Rose Fire Company #1 , Pleasant Hill, and Shrewsbury were working on rope skills for vehicle rescue.
That is a lot of Volunteers in our station doing a lot of learning!
